Oil & Water

October 28, 2010

Yes, that is oil from the coast of Louisiana. Yes, it was used to screen print this awesome poster. Yes, you can buy one right here, or you can just make a donation, but you probably want the poster, too!

This is a project by Happiness Brussels and ALL of the proceeds go to the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana.

Brixton

October 28, 2010

I love the lighting and feel of these pictures from Brixton’s new Holiday Lookbook. Everything is just so fresh and simple. It’s pretty afforadable, as well, which is always a plus!

Only a few of them are shown here, but they’ve got a pretty nice hat collection. It really makes me wish I wore hats on a more regular basis!

They’ve also got a pretty sweet blog going on!

Crystal Palace

September 15, 2010

Last week in class we learned about the Crystal Palace in London. It was designed by Joseph Paxton, who was originally a gardener by trade. The comissioners in charge of putting on the Great Exhibition together decided that since Paxton was used to building greenhouses which brought in lots of light, he would be perfect for the building of the exhibition hall and they were right. His design was made completely out of cast-iron and glass, and even included ways to build the building around the trees in Hyde Park so they wouldn’t have to be chopped down as the Londoners feared.

I wish this was still in London.

friday things

I’m loving this 1930s & 40s inspired menswear from Three Over One. They say their “design is inspired by an appreciation for the attitude, style, quality and workmanship of the past.” This is their first collection, & I must say it makes me wish I were a boy so that I could wear it. I’m excited to see what they do next time around.

June 30, 2010

I just got Anthro’s catalog in the mail the other day & I absolutely loved all the images in it. These are just a few of my favorites. I want the house that they shoot in. The decor is always so fantastic. The bed in the room with the chalkboard walls is my absolute favorite. I want it!

Money Tools

June 24, 2010

Stacey Lee Webber made these tools out of pre-1992 copper pennies. They are part of her Craftsman Series which features different tools made out of various forms of coins.

These apartments in Rio de Janeiro were given a makeover by the Favela Painting & the Let’s Colour Project. Their goal is to raise enough money to paint an entire hillside.

I want to live there.
